Deep and dynamic pressure while sitting

Protac KneedMe® is a sensory lap cushion designed primarily for adults and older people. It rests freely on the lap, covering the thighs and knees, and provides deep pressure and clear proprioceptive and tactile input while the person remains seated.

Its 38 mm EVA balls are free to move within the product. As the person moves, the balls also move, continually changing the points of contact and pressure.

This makes KneedMe® more than simply a weighted cushion: weight, movement and deep dynamic pressure combine to provide clear sensory information about the body.

This input can support:

Sensory input integrated into everyday life

KneedMe® does not require a specific exercise or activity. It can provide sensory input while the person continues with everyday activities such as:

• watching television;
• talking and participating in shared activities;
• cognitive and learning activities;
• activities of daily living;
• therapeutic activities;
• resting.

It can be used in both an ordinary chair and a wheelchair.

Older people and dementia

KneedMe® is particularly relevant for older people and people with dementia or cognitive impairment.

Deep pressure and proprioceptive input provide clear information from the body without requiring the person to understand complex instructions or actively perform an exercise.

In people experiencing psychomotor restlessness, difficulty maintaining attention or difficulty processing environmental stimuli, this type of sensory input can support calm, body awareness and availability for contact, activity and participation.

KneedMe® can therefore be incorporated into everyday situations such as meals, rest, cognitive or leisure activities, shared activities and certain care situations.

The manufacturer also describes professional use during cognitive training, activities of daily living and patient care, and specifically identifies people with dementia among the groups for whom KneedMe® may be beneficial.

Pressure without restraint

KneedMe® simply rests on the lap. It is not fastened to the body and does not restrict the person's movement.

A non-slip backing helps keep the cushion in position over the thighs and knees.

And something for the hands

The outer pocket provides a comfortable place for the hands. They can remain tucked inside or active according to the person's needs.

An internal clip allows a small manipulative or fidget object to be attached, adding another possible form of sensory activity.

Washing and maintenance

KneedMe® can be washed at up to 60 °C.

The cover and inner ball bag must be washed separately following the care instructions.

Do not use stain removers or detergents containing bleach or perfume.

Regular airing is recommended.

Important

KneedMe® is not intended as a restraint or safety device.

People who cannot take care of themselves should use it under supervision.

Weighted products require particular care in people with pressure ulcers or at risk of developing them. Do not use KneedMe® in these circumstances.

Discontinue use if increased redness or irritation appears on the thighs or buttocks.

Keep away from open flames and other heat sources.
