Mild sensory input in a particularly lightweight blanket

Protac Granulate Blanket™ Flexible is a sensory blanket filled with polypropylene granulate that provides mild, uniform and enveloping tactile and proprioceptive input.

Unlike models containing large EVA balls, its filling consists entirely of fine granulate. The individual elements are therefore barely perceptible through the fabric and the blanket retains a sensation closer to conventional bedding.

At approximately 3.5 kg, it is also considerably lighter than most adult Ball Blanket® models.

Discreet filling that adapts to the body

The polypropylene granulate is distributed in compartments with removable inner bags.

The fine filling settles around the contours of the body, providing broad contact and gentle sensory information without the pronounced movement or clearly perceptible volumes produced by large balls.

This makes it particularly interesting for people who prefer:

• mild and enveloping sensory input;
• a lightweight blanket;
• little perception of the individual filling elements;
• a sensation closer to conventional bedding;
• less pronounced movement of the filling.

Particularly interesting when familiarity matters

At HANDYCAT we consider Granulate Blanket™ Flexible particularly interesting for older people and people with cognitive impairment when acceptance of an unfamiliar sensory blanket may be difficult.

Our experience shows that some people can initially reject blankets containing large balls. One possible explanation is that unfamiliar volumes and movements inside the bed may be difficult to recognise or interpret.

Granulate Flexible avoids this pronounced sensation. Its fine filling is discreet to the touch, making the blanket feel considerably closer to familiar bedding while still providing enveloping tactile and proprioceptive input.

Its lower weight may also be useful when a heavier sensory blanket is not desired or well tolerated.
